Grow, Harvest, & Feast
yearlong series
2024-25
Yonkers Public Library
At the Yonkers Public Library, I developed Grow, Harvest, & Feast, a year-long series celebrating Yonkers diversity through food, recipes, oral history, and community gardening including:
a seed library and hydroponic garden sponsored by ConEdison,
a collectible binder holding monthly updates like planting calendars, recipes, and local interviews,
an interactive food memory station to add recipes, pictures and stories to the library’s digital archives,
planting workshops,
restaurant tastings,
and family crafts and art projects.
The program was launched with a Black History Month celebration on February 17, 2024, including a cooking demo, a tour of local cuisine from Black and Afro-Caribbean chefs, planting and crafting stations, and an interactive dance workshop with James Norton from Youth Theatre Interactions.
