Our Stories: A Spotlight on Yonkers Local History
Exhibit
May 2024-ongoing
Yonkers Public Library
In May 2024, I debuted Our Stories, an exhibit on the Yonkers Public Library’s local history program.
Our Stories was co-curated by Alleah Donahue and Olin MacIntosh. Emma Cameron and May Higginbotham contributed substantial research, design, and editorial assistance. Click here for additional information about their work, including links to digital archival documents and other sources.
The exhibit was made possible through a collaboration between Sarah Lawrence College and the Yonkers Public Library supported by an Andrew Mellon Foundation Grant. Special thanks to Phyllis Cole for copy-editing, Vivian Presedo and Khanliah Grady for supplies and budgeting, Haifa Bint-Kadi for installation support, Diane Mignault and Charlie Loftus for research support, Eugene Howell for his wealth of historical knowledge, Michael Walsh for YPL archives know-how, Russell Martinez for preparing the walls for display, Dr. Ruth Kambar for her subject expertise and ongoing support with archiving Assyrian American life, and the many people from Yonkers and beyond who contributed materials that made the local history program at Yonkers Public Library possible.
